Our client is seeking a C++ Strategy Developer to join its Trading Technology team in Dublin. In this role, the successful candidate will design, build, and optimise high-frequency trading systems capable of processing large-scale real-time market data. This position offers close collaboration with experienced engineers and quantitative analysts, providing deep exposure to the systems and logic that underpin automated trading decisions in global markets. Prior trading experience is beneficial but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Low-Latency Trading Systems Development
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, low-latency trading applications using modern C++.
- Build systems capable of processing large real-time data streams in competitive trading environments.
Strategy Implementation & Collaboration
- Work closely with quantitative researchers and technologists to implement, refine, and enhance trading strategies.
- Translate research insights into robust, production-ready trading systems.
Performance Optimisation
- Tune systems for latency, throughput, scalability, and reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and performance issues.
End-to-End Software Ownership
- Own the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through to production deployment and ongoing support.
- Contribute to long-term architectural decisions and internal tooling improvements.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong professional experience developing performance-critical applications in modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20).
- Solid understanding of multithreading, memory management, IPC, STL, Boost, and network/socket programming.
Systems & Performance Engineering
- Strong experience in performance tuning, profiling, and system optimisation.
- Familiarity with building and maintaining high-performance, real-time systems.
Domain Exposure (Preferred)
- Prior experience in trading, financial services, or other latency-sensitive environments is advantageous but not required.
Mindset & Approach
- Strong passion for solving complex technical problems and delivering high-quality, maintainable code.
- Ability to iterate quickly while maintaining engineering discipline and system reliability.
