We are looking for a detail-oriented Demurrage Analyst to join our clients shipping and trade finance team. This individual contributor role will be responsible for monitoring, calculating, and resolving demurrage and laytime claims across our fleet of vessels. You will serve as the primary liaison between charterers, shipowners, agents, and finance to minimize costs and ensure accurate billing.
Key Responsibilities:

Laytime Calculation: Review charter parties and associated voyage data (arrival/departure times, notices, weather delays) to calculate laytime and demurrage or dispatch claims.

Data Validation: Gather and validate port call documentation—NOR (Notice of Readiness), Statement of Facts, stowage plans, and cargo completion reports.

Claim Preparation: Prepare demurrage and dispatch claims, invoices, and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with charter terms.

Dispute Resolution: Interface with charterers, shipowners, and P&I clubs to negotiate and settle claims, escalating issues as needed.

Systems Management: Maintain and update voyage and claim data in demurrage management systems (e.g., Veson IMOS, ShipNet, or equivalent).

Reporting: Produce regular dashboards and management reports on demurrage exposure, aging of claims, and cost recovery.

Continuous Improvement: Identify process gaps and implement best practices to streamline laytime analysis and claim handling.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, chartering, legal, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and budgeting.
