Key Responsibilities

Trade Execution & Contract Management

  • Execute all physical fuel oil trades in line with contractual terms, charter parties and internal guidelines.

  • Review and interpret sales/purchase contracts, nominations, laycans, CP terms, blending instructions and documentary requirements.

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of all operational details to customers, brokers, agents, shipowners, surveyors and terminals.

Cargo & Vessel Operations

  • Manage vessel nominations, pre-fixture and post-fixture operations for fuel oil cargoes.

  • Oversee load/discharge operations, STS transfers, blending, comingling and ullage optimisation.

  • Monitor vessel progress, ETA updates, port restrictions and operational risks, coordinating with owners/charterers as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with quality and quantity specifications; manage off-spec events and corrective actions.

P&L, Optimisation & Risk Management

  • Defend and enhance trade P&L by minimising exposure to demurrage, freight overruns, and operational inefficiencies.

  • Identify optimisation opportunities (routing, parceling, blending, heating, tank utilisation, ship-to-ship timing, etc.).

  • Validate freight, demurrage, claims and operational costs; challenge variances and negotiate when required.

  • Conduct voyage performance analysis and support trader decisions with operational insight.

Documentation & Systems

  • Prepare and check bills of lading, certificates of quality/quantity, NOR/SOF, LC documents and all other operational paperwork.

  • Ensure timely settlement of freight, hire, demurrage, port costs and other operational charges.

  • Maintain accurate operational data in trading systems (e.g., IMOS, Veson, Endur, Allegro, Triple Point).

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise daily with traders, shipping, legal, finance, claims, risk, credit and terminals to ensure seamless deal execution.

  • Act as the primary operational interface with counterparties, shipowners, surveyors, laboratories, and port agents.

  • Support KYC, sanctions and compliance checks related to vessels, terminals, surveyors, and counterparties.

Inventory & Logistics

  • Coordinate stock movements, tank scheduling, heating requirements and custody transfers.

  • Manage floating and onshore storage operations, term tank agreements and time-charter positions.

  • Perform inventory reconciliations, end-of-month reporting and exposure checks.
