Group Head of Compliance 

The responsibilities of the Group Head of Compliance include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Act as Compliance Officer and Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for the DFSA entity
  • Serve as the point of contact and liaise with the DFSA on all compliance and AML matters
  • Establish, maintain and update compliance and AML policies and procedures, systems and controls and day-to-day oversight of the Company’s compliance with AML rules and legislation in the DIFC and elsewhere as applicable
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation and operation of the compliance framework and Compliance Monitoring Program (CMP)
  • Collaborate with management and other departments (e.g., Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc.) to direct compliance issues to the appropriate channels for investigation and resolution
  • Establish, supervise and maintain monitoring and reporting processes and procedures, checks and controls to ensure that any compliance breaches are readily identified, reported and promptly acted upon
  • Ensure that the monitoring and reporting processes and procedures are documented and that records of breaches of any of legislation applicable to the Company are maintained
  • Continuously assess the appropriateness of internal policies, procedures and guidelines by performing regular compliance risk assessment, monitoring and testing and report the results to executive management and, if necessary, the Board of Directors
  • Perform with support from the relevant booking center initial and ongoing customer due diligence
  • Provide guidance to the business on permissible activities, new products and programs
  • Address any compliance audit remediation activities
  • Serve as the point of contact and liaise with regulators on all compliance and AML matters
  • Support complaint handling procedures
  • Generate reports on a quarterly basis to keep the Board and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts
  • Act as a point of contact to receive Internal Suspicious Activity Reports (“Internal SAR”) from management
  • Take appropriate action following the receipt of an Internal SAR
  • Where deemed appropriate, make External Suspicious Activity Reports in accordance with Federal AML legislation
  • Acting as the point of contact within the Relevant Person for competent U.A.E. authorities and the DFSA regarding money laundering issues
  • Respond promptly to any request for information made by competent governmental authorities or regulators
  • Receive and act upon any relevant findings, recommendations, guidance, directives, resolutions, sanctions, notices or other conclusions
  • Establish and maintain an appropriate compliance and AML training program and adequate awareness arrangements
  • Ensure completion of at least 20 hours of structured continuing professional development (CPD) hours per year relevant to [his/her] role (including any anticipated changes in the role), professional skill and knowledge and ensure that appropriate records of such CPD activities are maintained
  • Ensure that the Company’s employees received compliance and AML related training as appropriate
  • Receiving and acting upon any relevant findings, recommendations, guidance, directives, resolutions, sanctions, notices or other conclusions
  • Manage and oversee all matters related to FATCA, CRS, ESR, etc. as applicable, including establishing, maintaining and updating relevant systems and controls, policies and procedures to manage related reporting and other requirements

Requirements:

  • DFSA Authorised Individual with experience acting as Compliance Officer and MLRO
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, Business or related field
  • Experience in a risk and compliance role within a Fintech company is a plus
  • Outstanding analytical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to risk and compliance.
  • A candidate who is detail oriented, self-reliant, takes initiative, and comfortable with shifting requirements and expectations
  • Someone who shows flexibility and a strong ability to deliver high quality work under pressure
