The firm seeks a commercially driven Trader to expand its physical and paper trading footprint across Asian and global markets. The ideal hire is a business builder with a proven ability to originate flows, structure commercial opportunities, develop new counterparties and build a profitable trading book. This is not a systematic or quant trading role — it requires strong market intuition, customer development and entrepreneurial ownership of P&L.

The trader will operate from the Singapore office and play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s regional growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Development & Origination

  • Build and expand a profitable trading book across chosen product(s), leveraging market intelligence, relationships and commercial creativity.

  • Originate new business, develop counterparties, unlock regional flows and identify scalable niches within Asian markets.

  • Actively source new customers, suppliers, logistics partners and strategic relationships to support commercial expansion.

  • Develop and execute market strategies that reflect both short-term opportunities and long-term thematic views.

Trading & Risk Management

  • Trade physical and paper markets responsibly within delegated risk limits.

  • Identify arbitrage, blending, storage, optionality and logistics-driven opportunities in the market.

  • Manage exposures across time spreads, cracks, paper/physical alignment, freight and operational risks.

  • Maintain disciplined mark-to-market, P&L attribution and position reporting in line with internal frameworks.

Deal Structuring & Execution

  • Structure and negotiate term and spot deals, supply agreements, off-take arrangements and optionality products.

  • Work closely with operations, logistics, chartering, finance, risk and legal to ensure smooth end-to-end execution.

  • Coordinate physical flows, assess operational constraints and optimise economics through blending, tankage, freight and timing.

  • Provide clear commercial rationale behind every trade and ensure transparent communication with senior management.

Market Engagement & Intelligence

  • Maintain strong relationships with market participants: refiners, trading houses, NOCs, majors, brokers, shipowners, producers, and end-users.

  • Gather, interpret and act on market signals including S&D, flows, run cuts, arbitrage windows, spreads, freight, and regional dislocations.

  • Represent the company at industry events, market forums and customer visits.

Internal Leadership & Growth

  • Support the ongoing development of the Singapore office as a regional hub.

  • Mentor junior staff, support recruitment initiatives and help shape trading strategy for new product lines.

  • Contribute to building a strong commercial culture rooted in entrepreneurship, accountability and teamwork.
