Operations Specialist – Dubai
A commodity trading business is looking for an Operations Specialist to manage the end-to-end execution of physical trades, from contract confirmation through to final delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate shipments, vessel nominations, loading/discharge and delivery schedules.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, surveyors and inspection companies.
- Manage trade and shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, invoices, certificates and quality/quantity documents.
- Track contractual obligations, cargo readiness, logistics costs and operational milestones.
- Coordinate transportation, warehousing and port operations where required.
- Monitor operational risks including delays, quality issues and demurrage exposure.
- Handle laytime calculations and support demurrage/claims.
- Work closely with Trading, Finance and Management to provide shipment updates and maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years’ experience in commodity trading operations, ideally covering fertiliser, chemicals, grains, metals or similar physical commodities.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping, Incoterms and trade documentation.
- Experience with hazardous/chemical cargo is advantageous.
- Strong Excel and general MS Office skills; ERP/CTRM experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field.
