Position Overview: As the Panamax Freight Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the freight operations for our fleet of Panamax vessels and time-chartered ships. You will be responsible for optimizing vessel utilization, negotiating freight rates, and ensuring efficient voyage planning to meet the company's shipping requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the freight operations for Panamax vessels and time-chartered ships, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of commodities.
- Negotiate freight rates and terms with charterers, brokers, and shipowners to optimize vessel earnings.
- Monitor market trends and analyze freight market conditions to make informed decisions regarding vessel deployment and chartering strategies.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including trading, operations, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of shipping contracts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the shipping industry including shipowners, brokers, and port agents.
- Provide timely and accurate reports on vessel performance, freight rates, and market trends to senior management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight management or chartering within the dry bulk shipping industry.
- Proven track record of negotiating freight contracts and optimizing vessel earnings.
- Strong understanding of Panamax vessel operations, market dynamics, and chartering principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant shipping software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
