We are working with a global oil trading firm seeking a shipping operator to join their Singapore office:

Position Summary:

  • Oversee all facets of shipping operations to ensure seamless functioning of controlled vessels, aligning with global standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Strategically plan voyages to meet international regulations and charter party stipulations.
  • Streamline vessel deployment, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize costs.
  • Provide comprehensive voyage instructions to vessels and advise chartering and trading desks on tank cleaning protocols and contamination risks.
  • Evaluate vessels based on company vetting criteria and liaise with stakeholders on voyage orders and itineraries.
  • Monitor vessel performance, including speed and fuel consumption, and optimize bunker and route usage.
  • Manage engagement of port agents, negotiate agency fees, and oversee payment processing.
  • Handle documentation such as letters of indemnity and protests, and maintain SoftMar system records.
  • Assist in resolving chartering issues and provide support for demurrage calculations and credit control activities.
  • Serve as a communication bridge during vessel emergencies and maintain comprehensive voyage files.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Maritime/Nautical Studies.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping or trading, with knowledge of international ship management, preferably in the tanker industry.
  • Proficiency in ship agency operations and excellent communication skills in English and Chinese, both written and verbal.
  • Proactive, autonomous, and adept at prioritization and problem-solving.
  • Strong negotiation abilities and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and sound judgement to minimize risks and optimize company interests.
