Shipping Operator (Petchem / LPG) – Abu Dhabi
We are supporting a global leading oil trading company in their search for a Shipping Operator to join their Abu Dhabi office. This is a key hire within the operations team, responsible for the end-to-end execution of LPG and petrochemical cargo movements across regional and international markets.
The role will sit close to the trading desk, ensuring seamless post-deal execution across both time charter and spot voyage activities, with full ownership of vessel operations and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Managing end-to-end vessel operations for LPG and petrochemical cargoes (pressurised, semi-ref, and fully refrigerated where applicable)
- Overseeing voyage execution from fixture through to final discharge, ensuring contractual compliance at all stages
- Liaising with traders, charterers, shipowners, brokers, agents, and terminals to coordinate operations
- Monitoring vessel schedules, port operations, and cargo status to optimise turnaround and minimise delays
- Handling voyage instructions, nominations, and operational documentation (NOR, SOF, LOIs, bills of lading, etc.)
- Managing freight exposure, hire statements, and voyage P&L reconciliation
- Supporting demurrage processes, including laytime calculations and claims handling
- Troubleshooting operational issues in real-time and providing solutions to protect commercial value
- Ensuring compliance with internal risk controls, regulatory requirements, and HSE standards
Requirements:
- 5–10 years’ experience in shipping/operations within LPG, petrochemicals, or clean products
- Background from a trading house or shipowner environment
- Strong experience managing end-to-end vessel operations (spot and/or time charter)
- Solid understanding of charter parties, laytime/demurrage, and voyage economics
- Experience with LPG vessel types (pressurised, semi-ref, fully refrigerated) is highly advantageous
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple voyages simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with front office in a fast-paced environment
