Role Overview

The Trade Finance Analyst will be responsible for managing and optimizing trade finance processes, including letters of credit (LCs), guarantees, and other financial instruments, while ensuring compliance with international regulations and internal policies. This role requires close collaboration with traders, banks, and operational teams to support the firm’s trading activities and cash flow management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade Finance Operations:

  • Manage letters of credit (LCs), standby LCs, performance guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
  • Review, negotiate, and ensure accurate issuance of trade finance documentation with banks and counterparties.
  • Monitor LC drawdowns and ensure timely payments and receipts.
  • Financial Risk Management:

  • Assess counterparty and credit risks associated with trade transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to structure financial solutions that minimize risks and maximize liquidity.
  • Monitor exposure to payment risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Cash Flow Management:

  • Support cash flow planning and ensure adequate financing is in place for ongoing and future trades.
  • Work closely with treasury teams to manage working capital and optimize financing costs.
  • Bank Relationships:

  • Maintain and develop relationships with banks and financial institutions to secure trade finance facilities.
  • Act as the main point of contact for banking partners regarding trade finance transactions.
  • Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., UCP 600, ISBP) and internal trade policies.
  • Prepare trade finance reports for management, including exposure tracking and cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure adherence to sanctions and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Collaboration:

  • Work closely with traders, chartering, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of trades.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies or disputes related to trade finance documentation.
