We’re supporting an international energy and industrial group in the expansion of their sustainable fuels and alternative commodities desk. They are looking to hire an experienced Alternative Fuel Trader to lead physical trading activities across a diverse range of fuels including RDF, biomass, coal, used cooking oils (UCOs), and woodchips. This is a high-impact role driving both commercial returns and sustainability targets.
Key Responsibilities:

Source, negotiate, and execute physical trades across a portfolio including RDF, biomass, woodchips, coal, and UCOs

Manage relationships with suppliers, industrial buyers (e.g., cement plants, power producers), and logistics providers

Structure offtake and supply agreements with a focus on margin and risk management

Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and regulatory frameworks in the alternative fuel space

Collaborate closely with operations, logistics, sustainability, and compliance teams to ensure smooth execution

Build a commercially viable trading book with both existing and new counterparties

Support decarbonisation strategies and ESG-driven fuel sourcing initiatives

Travel as required to maintain on-the-ground relationships across regions
Key Requirements:

3–8 years of experience in physical trading of alternative fuels or commodities (e.g., RDF, biomass, coal, UCOs, woodchips)

Strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to close and manage trades end-to-end
-
Existing network of suppliers and/or buyers across relevant markets

Familiarity with logistics and quality considerations for bulk and liquid fuels

Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable building and scaling a book

Fluent in English; additional regional languages an advantage

Willingness to travel regionally/internationally as needed
