We are working with a leading international trading house with a strong footprint across energy, metals, and shipping markets. With global offices and a robust platform, they are committed to growing their presence in the Middle East. To support this expansion, they are seeking an experienced Physical Metals Trader to join their Dubai team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for trading base metals (zinc, lead, copper, aluminium, nickel) with a focus on physical flows across global markets. You will be expected to originate, structure, and execute trades, manage risk exposure, and develop strategic relationships with counterparties including producers, consumers, and financial institutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead trading activities across physical base metals markets (zinc, lead, copper, aluminium, nickel).

  • Build and manage a profitable trading book with responsibility for PnL performance and risk management.

  • Originate and execute trading opportunities with producers, smelters, refineries, industrial end-users, and counterparties globally.

  • Identify arbitrage opportunities across regional markets, freight, storage, and financing structures.

  • Collaborate with operations, shipping, risk, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of trades.

  • Monitor market trends, supply/demand dynamics, and macroeconomic drivers affecting metals markets.

  • Maintain and expand a strong network of industry contacts, building long-term commercial partnerships.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, trading limits, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience trading physical base metals (zinc, lead, copper, aluminium, nickel).

  • Proven track record of generating consistent PnL within metals markets.

  • Strong knowledge of physical flows, logistics, freight, warehousing, and financing structures.

  • Established network of relationships with counterparties in Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Africa.

  • Solid risk management skills, with experience handling hedging strategies and derivatives.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and capture new market opportunities.

  • Willingness to be based in Dubai and contribute to the growth of a global trading platform.
