The Carbon Trader will be responsible for building and managing a global carbon trading and origination portfolio across both compliance and voluntary markets. This role combines active proprietary trading with the sourcing and structuring of carbon projects and offtake agreements, requiring a strong commercial mindset, deep market knowledge, and the ability to execute strategies across multiple regions and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities

Execute proprietary trading strategies across compliance markets (EU ETS, UK ETS, CORSIA, regional/national schemes) and the voluntary carbon market to deliver consistent P&L.

Identify and capitalize on arbitrage opportunities, market dislocations, and cross-product strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns.

Originate, structure, and negotiate long-term offtake agreements with project developers, corporates, and financial institutions globally.

Build and maintain relationships with key market participants, including registries, brokers, utilities, airlines, industrials, and institutional investors.

Monitor and interpret global regulatory developments, policy changes, and market fundamentals to inform trading and origination strategies.

Collaborate with research, analytics, and risk teams to develop pricing models, forecasts, and hedging strategies.

Support the creation and marketing of tailored carbon-neutral solutions and structured products for clients.

Maintain strict adherence to risk management parameters, credit limits, and compliance requirements across all markets and jurisdictions.

Represent the company at key industry conferences, working groups, and regulatory consultations to stay ahead of market trends and enhance brand visibility.

Provide regular reporting on portfolio performance, market views, and strategic opportunities to senior management.
