The firm boasts a global team of over 200 professionals and they're scaling rapidly and investing heavily in innovative technologies and new market expansion. We are looking for a talented Engineering Manager to join and lead one of their core engineering teams.
The Role:
As Engineering Manager, you’ll be entrusted with growing and leading a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing key components of the firm’s algorithmic trading platform (execution, backtesting, infrastructure, etc.). This is a pivotal leadership position in a low-bureaucracy, high-impact environment where you’ll help define technical direction, drive innovation, and support global trading initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Mentor, develop, and retain a world-class team of backend engineers; conduct 1:1s, set growth plans (IDPs), and foster team cohesion.
- Performance Management: Lead team evaluations, set clear expectations, deliver feedback, and resolve performance issues with a focus on engagement and outcomes.
- Technical Direction: Own architectural decisions and help shape the technical vision across multiple projects.
- Engineering Best Practices: Ensure code quality, oversee technical debt management, and streamline the development lifecycle.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across Trading, Product, Compliance, and Support to align technology with business goals.
- Innovation & Delivery: Drive new technology adoption, remove blockers, manage dependencies, and deliver features on time.
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience within TradFi algorithmic trading (buy-side preferred).
- 2+ years managing engineering teams of 5+ people.
- Strong technical expertise in C++, Java, Rust, or similar languages.
- Hands-on experience building trading platform components (e.g., market data, connectivity, backtesting).
- Proven ability to lead technical strategy and mentor engineering talent.
- Strong emotional intelligence and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working in a remote-first, globally distributed team environment.
- Excellent command of English.
