The Fertiliser Trader will be responsible for developing and managing a global fertiliser trading book across key nutrient products (urea, DAP/MAP, potash, ammonia, phosphates, NPK, etc.). Leveraging the company’s integrated shipping and agri trading platforms, the role focuses on origination, physical trading, freight optimisation, and risk management to drive profitability and expand market share.
Key Responsibilities

Physical Trading & Origination

Source, negotiate, and execute physical fertiliser trades (spot, term, and structured) across global markets.

Build and maintain relationships with producers, distributors, blenders, cooperatives, and end-users.

Identify and develop new markets, trade flows, and cross-commodity opportunities (e.g., ammonia, agri inputs).

Freight & Logistics Optimisation

Utilise the company’s in-house shipping arm to optimise freight exposure and secure competitive rates.

Oversee chartering, laycan management, vessel nomination, and demurrage to ensure seamless execution.

Coordinate closely with operators to manage supply chain risks, timing, and cost efficiency.

Risk Management & P&L

Manage price risk through derivatives, swaps, or back-to-back hedging.

Monitor exposure limits, mark-to-market, and ensure compliance with risk policies.

Generate and present regular P&L reports with clear market commentary.

Analyse supply/demand fundamentals, seasonal patterns, freight movements, and competitor activity.

Leverage agri trading insights to align fertiliser trading strategies with broader commodity flows.

Work with shipping, finance, credit, and operations teams to ensure efficient trade execution.
