We are seeking an experienced Freight Trader to join our client's trading team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing freight exposure, optimising shipping costs, and executing freight trading strategies in support of our clients' global oil trading business. This role will sit at the intersection of trading and shipping, requiring strong commercial acumen, deep market knowledge, and close collaboration with oil traders, operators, and chartering teams.
Key Responsibilities:

Trade freight derivatives (FFAs) and physical freight contracts to manage and optimise freight exposure across oil trading books.

Develop and execute freight trading strategies aligned with underlying oil flows and market opportunities.

Work closely with oil traders, shipping operators, and charterers to assess freight economics, shipping options, and trade structures.

Analyse global freight markets, vessel supply/demand, and route arbitrage to identify trading opportunities.

Maintain relationships with ship owners, brokers, and counterparties across freight markets.

Monitor and manage freight risk exposures in compliance with firm’s risk and P&L parameters.

Provide market intelligence and freight cost analysis to support commercial and trading decisions.

Contribute to freight market outlooks and strategy discussions at the trading desk.
