Insurance Specialist – Metals Trading Firm

Support global metal trading activities by managing all insurance matters across credit insurance, trade credit policies, cargo, property, liability, and operational risk coverage.

Lead the administration, renewal, and optimisation of credit insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage for counterparties, payment terms, exposures, and prepayment structures.

Work closely with traders, operations, finance, and credit teams to assess transaction structures, counterparty risk, and insurance requirements for prepayment deals, long-term offtake agreements, and structured trade products.

Review commercial contracts to ensure insurance clauses, liabilities, Incoterms, and risk-transfer points are fully aligned with internal standards and insurer requirements.

Liaise with insurers, brokers, and underwriters to negotiate policy terms, improve coverage limits, and secure competitive pricing aligned with business needs.

Monitor global exposure, maintain accurate insurance records, and support internal reporting for premium allocation, claim reserves, and coverage utilisation.

Manage and coordinate the claims process end-to-end, including incident investigation, documentation, submission, and follow-up with insurers until resolution.

Produce regular analytics on insured vs uninsured exposure, credit limit utilisation, counterparty coverage gaps, and policy performance.

Provide insurance guidance for new market entries, new counterparties, structured transactions, inventory financing, and logistics activities across multiple jurisdictions.

Stay updated on insurance market trends, credit insurance appetite, sanctions, geopolitical risks, and regulatory developments that may impact trade flows or coverage availability.

Ensure all insurance processes comply with internal policies, audit requirements, and relevant international regulations.

Preferred experience across metals trading, commodities, trade finance, or industrial manufacturing with strong understanding of credit insurance, prepayments, and structured trade products.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or related field; professional insurance qualifications a plus.
