Job Description: As a Market Risk Analyst specializing in physical metals trading, you will play a critical role in their newly formed proprietary trading desk. Working closely with their trader, you will be responsible for analyzing market risks associated with their trading activities. Your expertise in metals trading and risk management will be instrumental in optimizing trading strategies and ensuring the success and growth of their proprietary trading operations.


  • Collaborate with the trader to assess and analyze market risks for physical metals trading activities.

  • Monitor and report on market trends, price movements, and relevant factors influencing the metals market.

  • Utilize statistical models and risk metrics to evaluate potential risks and opportunities in trading positions.

  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate exposure and enhance trading performance.

  • Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of market events on trading positions.

  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry best practices related to market risk management.

  • Provide valuable insights and risk assessments to support decision-making on the trading desk.

  • Maintain close communication with various stakeholders to ensure risk assessments align with overall business objectives.


  • Proven experience as a Market Risk Analyst in the physical metals trading industry.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the metals market dynamics, pricing, and supply chain.

  • Familiarity with statistical modeling, risk metrics, and risk management techniques.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.

  • Proficiency in using risk management software and trading platforms.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a trading team.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
