We are supporting a leading international trading group with a growing presence across global power, gas, and cross-commodity markets. The firm operates a fully proprietary trading model, leveraging deep analytics, strong balance sheet capability, and advanced technology infrastructure.

As part of their continued expansion in Europe, they are looking to appoint an experienced Prop Power Trader to join their Denmark-based team, focusing on Nordic markets.

Overview

The successful candidate will join an established proprietary trading team covering power markets across Europe. This role will have full PnL responsibility, trading the Nordic power curve across multiple tenors, from front month through to long-term positions, with a derivatives-driven focus.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a proprietary trading book focused on Nordic power markets, trading both directional and spread strategies.

  • Execute across futures, forwards, options, and other derivatives products.

  • Develop and maintain analytical tools and models to support trade ideas and risk management.

  • Collaborate with risk, analytics, and technology teams to optimize trading performance.

  • Monitor key market drivers — generation mix, interconnector flows, weather patterns, fuel spreads, and policy/regulatory developments.

  • Contribute to the broader European power trading strategy and cross-desk idea generation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in power trading, ideally within Nordic markets.

  • Proven track record of profitability from proprietary or prop-style risk-taking roles.

  • Strong understanding of market fundamentals, power derivatives, and risk metrics (VaR, Sharpe, drawdowns).

  • Proficiency in analytical tools (Python, SQL, or Excel/VBA) preferred but not essential.

  • Entrepreneurial, self-driven, and comfortable operating within a lean, high-autonomy setup.
