Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Head of Accounting to lead our accounting team. The Head of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions for the organization. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial information and supporting the company's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and tax functions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing process, including reconciliation of accounts, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and assess changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and optimize financial reporting practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and legal departments, to support business initiatives, transactions, and strategic projects.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to accounting staff to foster professional development and maintain high standards of performance.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and technology solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, preferably in the oil and gas or commodities trading industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting requirements, and accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP or Oracle is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive mindset and ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
