We are partnering with a leading global shipowner to appoint an experienced Post-Fixture Operator to join their Dubai office. The successful candidate will manage post-fixture operations for dry bulk voyages, with a strong focus on laytime calculations, demurrage handling, and charter party performance.

You will liaise closely with internal stakeholders (commercial, legal, finance) and external counterparties (charterers, brokers, agents) to ensure operational efficiency, timely settlements, and optimal commercial outcomes.


Responsibilities:

  • Accurately calculate and monitor laytime in accordance with charter party terms and voyage data.

  • Interpret and apply charter party clauses to real-time events, aiming to achieve the most favourable commercial outcome.

  • Lead the negotiation and resolution of demurrage and despatch claims, collaborating with internal legal and commercial teams.

  • Identify and report laytime-related risks in third-party contracts and provide recommendations for mitigation.

  • Manage and maintain accurate documentation of laytime, demurrage, and post-fixture correspondence, ensuring full audit trails.

  • Handle final hire settlements with charterers or owners, accounting for off-hire, deductions, and all receivables/payables.

  • Liaise with the Finance team to ensure timely invoicing and processing of all receivables and payables.

  • Proactively support the operations team to resolve any post-fixture disputes or delays.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in post-fixture operations, preferably within the dry bulk shipping sector.

  • Strong understanding of voyage charter parties, laytime and demurrage clauses, and industry documentation.

  • Proven ability to analyse contractual terms and resolve disputes with a commercial and professional approach.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.

  • Familiarity with shipping software and MS Excel for laytime calculations and reporting.
